Student testimonials:

  • “What AVID means to me. To me, AVID gives me a chance to grow and a reason to improve my life in school and out of school. It is also an opportunity to reach out and achieve my goals.” - Ivanna C N. 7th Grade AVID Student 2025

  • “AVID doesn’t just stand for Advancement Via Individual Determination, it also stands for learning not to depend on others but yourself.  AVID helps you reach those goals that you never thought you could. AVID also helps you develop life skills.  As an AVID student, I have learned a lot from not just my teacher, but also my peers. It helps you turn into a better person not just as a student but as a child.  AVID also helps with your other classes by doing tutorials. We learn how to work together to help as one. This is what AVID means to me”  - Mia O O. 7th grade AVID student 2025.

  • “I have always been good at school. I would consider myself a little smart, but I was never really organized. I didn't know how to study properly, how to organize study groups etc… But the reality is that you can have the biggest brain but if you're not organized or don't know how to study all that doesn’t matter. This is where AVID or Advancement Via Individual Determination comes in. For students who are unsure of their future, want to know more about a career or overall just want to stay organized in school, AVID might be perfect for you.  AVID has helped in a very positive way.  Before, I wasn't necessarily sure what I wanted to do in the future but AVID has helped me with that by allowing me to explore my options. It also really improves your overall work ethic from being unorganized and struggling academically to having a strong work ethic and mindset. So I definitely recommend AVID for anyone who is interested.”  - Larry R., 8th grade 2025
